Delivery Inspection

Inspect Your Delivery

The sooner you identify any issues, the sooner we can work on making it right. We recommend unboxing and inspecting your entire cabinet order shortly after it arrives.

How to Unbox and Inspect

  • •

Look for the OPEN ME FIRST box

This box contains important installation parts and a sample touch-up kit to fix any small scratches or dings that might happen during installation. Orders of 10+ cabinets include a full touch-up kit matched to your cabinet finish.

  • •

    Avoid unnecessary lifting

Cabinets are heavy and cartons are awkward. Minimize moving boxes by inspecting them where they're stored.

  • •

    Carefully open the carton

Use a utility knife to slice along one side panel where it meets the top, then down both edges. Be careful to only cut through cardboard, not the cabinet inside.

  • •

    Remove protection and slide out

Remove any edge or corner protection inside and carefully slide the cabinet onto the opened flap.

  • •

    Thoroughly inspect for damage

Look for any visible damage or defects. Open doors, drawers, and roll-out trays. Minor door and drawer misalignments that happened during shipping can be adjusted after installation.

  • •

    Store safely until installation

Once inspected, slide the cabinet back into its carton for protection until you're ready for installation.

If Something Isn't Right

Your first call should be to the designer who helped you place your order—they have all your specific order information on file and can quickly arrange a fix.

During Remodeling

Setting Up a Temporary Kitchen

You'll be without your full kitchen for a few weeks during your remodel. With some basic planning and improvisation, you can set up a temporary kitchen that keeps your household running smoothly.

Find a Good Spot

  • •

    Look for space and water

An ideal temporary kitchen is far away from remodeling activity and close to a water source. Consider an in-law suite, basement rec room, or laundry with a utility tub.

  • •

    Consider an indoor-outdoor arrangement

If weather permits, move your refrigerator and prep area to the garage for easy access to outdoor grilling.

  • •

    Don't forget about safety

Ensure your chosen space has accessible electrical outlets, adequate ventilation, and a working smoke detector nearby.

Organize Your Temporary Kitchen Starter Kit

Make a list of essentials you'll need close at hand:

  • •Two dishes, utensils, and a plastic cup per family member
  • •Essential pots, pans, and cooking utensils
  • •Can opener, knives, cutting board, measuring cup, and thermometer
  • •Food storage containers and plastic trays
  • •Large folding table for prep station

Plan for Small Appliance Cooking

While takeout is convenient, it gets expensive quickly. Gather portable appliances like microwaves, slow cookers, electric griddles, and toaster ovens. Research one-pot recipes that work with these compact cooking workhorses.

If you can't move your refrigerator, consider buying or borrowing a dorm fridge to keep in your temporary kitchen location.

Survival Tips

  • •Prepare several big meals before demo begins and freeze portions for easy reheating
  • •Ask friends or neighbors if you can use their kitchen once a week for meal prep
  • •Use a bathtub or beverage cooler with water and dish soap as a makeshift sink if needed
  • •Stay positive—any inconveniences will be brief, and your new kitchen will make them worthwhile
